State Records Center Manager
Position #00158

The Library of Virginia is seeking a State Records Center Manager in the
Records Management and Imaging Services Division to oversee daily operations
of the new State Records Center facility located in eastern Henrico County.
Responsibilities include management of the overall physical plant and
grounds of the 77,200 square foot facility as well as ensuring proper
oversight of the inactive records stored in the records center section
(approximately 210,000 cubic feet capacity) and the permanent records housed
in the Archives Annex (@88,000 cubic feet capacity).  The manager will be
expected to assist the staff in all aspects of the daily work associated
with the facility and will also:
*       directly supervise and train stacks personnel and administrative
support staff
*       ensure that staff follow procedures pertaining to accessioning
records, bar coding boxes and books, maintaining accurate and timely data in
the records center database, retrieving records, delivering requested
records (to the records center reading room, the main Library downtown, or
to the requesting agency), scheduling destruction of eligible records, and
operation of the pest eradication chamber (blast freezer)
*       schedule personnel to pick-up and deliver records to customers
within the Richmond city limits and make daily work assignments to ensure
smooth operations
*       oversee the customer billing process to ensure timely and accurate
revenue stream from the records center operation
*       conduct training as required, whether with internal staff through
SRC Site Orientations for personnel assigned to the State Records Center or
by holding workshops for existing, and prospective, customers.
*       NOTE:  since this is a relatively small staff, the manager will need
to help with all aspects of the operation as needed which will require
operating high-rise (Raymond) equipment, forklift, truck, van, shredders,
scanners, as well as lifting boxes (sometimes this includes the larger boxes
weighing up to 70 lbs).
A bachelor's degree in business, industrial or management engineering,
information science, or related field is desired.  At least five years of
supervisory experience is also desired.
This position reports directly to the State Records Administrator and the
annual salary is negotiable, depending on experience and credentials, with
the minimum range in the $40's.
