Delaware Public Archives dedication webcast



On Thursday, December 7, 2000, the Delaware Public Archives new facility in
Dover, Delaware will be dedicated.  The new $18 million dollar facility
includes a new research room with seating for 60 researchers, 16 public
access terminals for citizens wanting access to electronic government
information, storage capacity for approximately 90,000 cubic feet of
material, and a conservation lab.  (Phase II of the construction--scheduled
to begin in January 2001-- will include renovations to the existing Hall of
Records for use as an education center, exhibit space, and administrative
offices.)

The building will be dedicated by Governor (and U.S. Senator-elect) Thomas
Carper and Secretary of State Edward Freel.  Other speakers include Lt.
Governor (and Governor-elect) Ruth Ann Minner, and Superior Court Justice
William Quillen (ret.)

For those interested in watching the dedication, the ceremony will be webcast
at 10:30 a.m. at http://www.state.de.us.
