Re: Looking for old magazine

Thank you! I have checked all three sites and they do have the _Outdoors
Ohio_ magazine. But that title was discontinued in 1931. I need the name
of the publication in 1943. This would be the official publication of
either the Ohio Department of Agriculture or the Department of Natural
Resources. The division of that agency which published it would be either
the Division of Conservation or the Division of Civilian Conservation.
Thank you again for your help!

Chris

Cleveland Public Library, Ohio State Univ., and the Ohio Historical Society
have this magazine, according to Firstsearch.

I am helping a patron look for a magazine from Ohio from the early 1940's,
most like ly 1943. The magazine, we believe, was known as _Outdoors Ohio_
(originally published by the Ohio Department of Agriculture, Division of
Conservation) back in the early 1930's and then changed its name several
times, at one point being known as _Conservationist_ (published by the Ohio
State Department of Natural Resources, Division of Civilian Conservation).
The issue we are particularly concerned with has, either on the cover or
prominently displayed in the magazine, a photo of a lady named Kate Ross.
Mrs. Ross was 98 years old when she went to buy her Ohio state fishing
license, and caught the attention of the magazine's publishers, who
photographed her while fishing and put the picture in their magazine. I am
also told that, in this picture, she is smoking a corncob pipe.

I would like to find out a couple of things:

1) What the name of the magazine was when she was pictured in it.
2) Where I could get a copy of the photograph.
3) If someone has the actual magazine in their collection, if it could be
lent out or if it could be personally viewed.

I have spent a while researching this and have not been able to find out
any
more than I have related above. Any additional information you could
contribute would be greatly appreciated. Please respond to
blfs_ys@hotmail.com .

Thank you!
