Friday funny

Here's a Friday funny for the other two people who are also at work
today; the rest of you can enjoy it after Christmas. It's even an
archive-related funny (actually, set of funnies).

Years ago, there was an Episcopal church newspaper that used to
publish each month an "Episcocat:" a photograph of a cat(s) with a
caption that made it humorous, but also had a religious reference. For
example, a favorite of both my husband's and mine was a photo of a
very ample cat with the caption "God our maker doth provide." For
some reason (possibly demands for equal time by dog lovers), this was
discontinued as a feature in the newspaper, but survives in a yearly
calendar and a series of pamphlet-style books.

I just got the newest one of these books, _The Trouble with Angels_,
and it has a couple of archival related entries--not to mention that
the book is published by The National Episcopal Historians and
Archivists (509 Yale Ave., Swarthmore, PA 19081, since I know at least
one person will ask me where they can get it).

This will prove that a picture is worth a thousand words, as these
are better if you see them, but the library/archives-related one are:

A photo of a book shelf with a cat sitting on the top row of books
saying "I assure you, St. Catherine's library is exceptional!"

A cat sitting on the floor in front of a bookshelf looking up saying,
"Why is the book I want always on the top shelf?"

A photo of a cat sitting on an open drawer in a desk(?) looking into
the cut-out in a higher drawer used for pulling it out, saying "Took
one look and volunteered to set up a parish archive."

Here's one we'll all sympathize with: a cat stting on an open
planner/calendar saying " 'Met with G.' How can I write a parish
history with notes like this?"

In case Roger Smith is a member of this list as well as sending us
updates on Global Museum News: a cat lying on an open prayer book
saying, "How can you say our services are pedestrian? We're using the
New Zaeland Prayer Book!" (I suppose this might be funnier if one knew
anything about the New Zealand Prayer Book, if there is such a
thing...)

Happy holidays to everyone!
