Re: Looking for interesting photographs 1900-1910

Hi Bob,

I needed to get photos for my book on American women from 1789-1920 (just out!), and had very good luck with the Library of Congress and the National Archives and Records Administration. You don't even have to travel to Washington D.C. Both have websites with thousands of digitized photos that you can examine online, and I think now you can even order prints online. The American Memory Collection at the Library of Congress is particularly wonderful, with a wealth of topics and eras. And as I recall many of the collections at both facilities have many, many images of life around the turn of the century.

Both sites have search facilities, though the one for the LC is easier to use, I think. And an advantage of ordering from them is there is no use fee, just the cost of printing. Be prepared to wait several months to get your prints.

Your book sounds fascinating, when will it be out?

Hope this helps and good luck

Linda Coppens
