University Archivist/Special Collections Librarian
Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA

          Thomas Jefferson University, an academic health center consisting
of Jefferson Medical College (the 9th oldest medical school in the U.S.),
the College of Health Professions, the College of Graduate Studies, and
Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, is seeking a University
Archivist/Special Collections Librarian to join our team of creative and
experienced professionals. Located in historic and livable center-city
Philadelphia, a short walk from museums and historic sites, Scott Library is
a department of Jefferson's Academic Information Services and Research
(AISR) Division, which also includes Medical Media Services, the Office of
Academic Computing and Education Services. Please visit JEFFLINE, AISR's

The successful candidate will manage the collection, organization,
description, and preservation of, and provides access to, the University
Archives and the Library's Special Collections to all qualified researchers
and university personnel.  The candidate will arrange the Archives and
Special Collections for ease of use and describe their holdings through
guides, inventories and other finding aids.

In addition, this person will provide for the preservation of all library
holdings and disaster preparedness and prepare exhibits that showcase all
materials in the Archives and Special Collections.  The candidate will also
assist in the coverage of the library's Information desk and contribute to
the development of policies relating to the Archives and Special
Collections.

Qualifications: Masters in History with emphasis in archival administration
or Masters of Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited school.
Academy of Certified Archivists' accreditation preferred. A minimum of 3
years of professional university or institutional archival experience is
required and familiarity with the MARC AMC format preferred.  Highly
effective oral and written communication skills and proven ability to manage
multiple activities is essential.

Salary minimum: $40,000
