MARAC conference in Philadelphia



Please forgive cross-posting.

The Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives (MARAC) conference will hold their Spring
meeting in Philadelphia, May 3-5, 2001 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.  The theme
of this conference is:  2001:An Archival Odyssey: Four Centuries of Archives.

Special events:  Friday May 4, 2001 - Plenary featuring historian Lucia
Collier Stanton and Dianne Swann-Wright, who will talk about their project to
document Monticello's slave community through oral interviews.  The Plenary is
supported by the Pennsylvania Humanities Council and is FREE AND OPEN TO THE
PUBLIC.

Luncheon speaker: Friday May 4, 2001 - Barbara B Oberg, will talk about the
significance of the 225th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

Fredric Miller Lecture:  Friday May 4, 2001  - Joan A. Fleckner from the
Smithsonian Institution will be the lecturer.

Reception:  Friday May 4, 2001  - Reception to be held in the Mayor's
Reception room at City Hall.
