Dissertations/Theses

At Springfield College, we typically receive 3 bound paper copies of
theses/dissertations. Two are earmarked for the circulating collection. One
for archives. We do not participate in the UMI process, but our collection is
reviewed by the Human Movement collection housed at the University or Oregon and
about half of them are microformed there are part of that collection. Last year
we began a process of requiring an electronic version in addition to the paper
copies to be deposited in the library -- this done in coordination with the
Graduate School. Along with appropriate student-signed permission forms, the
electronic version is web-mounted. As this is going on, a retrospective
conversion of earlier theses/dissertations is being done (at least for those we
have permission to web-mount). At it currently stands, we hope to have students
prepare an electronic version as part of their campus submission requirements
and, from that, a web-version will be mounted if permissions are in order. As
that is goin
g on, earlier paper copies are under consistent review to scan and mount as
appropriate.
