Call for history of neuroscience related announcements, catalogs, brochures, etc.

The organizers of the upcoming meeting of the International Society for
the History of the Neurosciences (ISHN: Cologne, Germany, 13-16 June
2001) are preparing "goody bags" for the ca. 60 conference attendees.

We would like to invite archives, libraries, museums, publishers,
antiquarian dealers, website editors, and meeting organizers to send 60
copies of their selected brochures, catalogs, flyers, and other
materials which may be of interest specifically to historians of
neuroscience. This is an opportunity for us to become acquainted with
you, and vice versa. Please see the ISHN homepage
<http://www.ishn.org>, annual meeting program
<http://www.ishn.org/ishn2001.htm>, and tables of contents of the
_Journal of the History of the Neurosciences_ to help evaluate and
match your service/activity/resources with the goals and programs of
the ISHN and the research interests and activities of ISHN members.
This is a "free offer": we are not requesting a fee to include your
material in the registration packages, and we will not pay to accept
and distribute the items you send for this meeting; and please, no
advertisements for cheap toner cartridges!

To participate, send relevant materials (to be received by May 12) to:

Prof. Dr. med. Axel Karenberg
Institute for the History of Medicine and Medical Ethics
University of Cologne
Joseph-Stelzmann-Strasse 9/Gebäude 29
D-50931 Cologne/Köln
Germany

On an ongoing basis, we also welcome announcements of lectures,
exhibitions, meetings, publications, etc. to post to HISTNEUR-L, the
History of Neuroscience Internet Forum (see
<http://www.neurosciencearchives.org/histneur.htm> for details). These
may be posted directly or sent to me by e-mail
<rjohnson@library.ucla.edu> or snailmail; I
will forward relevant information to the ca. 300 list members.

Thanks,

Russell Johnson
ISHN Secretary and HISTNEUR-L administrator
