SALARY RANGE: (42) $35,048.00 - $47,299.20 Annually$1,348.00 -
$1,819.201,348.00 - $1,819.20 Biweekly
POSITION DESCRIPTION
A Librarian I - Archivist is responsible for the appraisal, arrangement,
description, and preservation of the archival collection within the Mesa Room of
the Main Public Library. Duties may include: identifying, appraising,
arranging, describing, and preserving the archival collection including:
historical and permanent public records; archives of various organizations,
manuscripts, photographs, maps, drawings, newspapers, etc.; evaluating and
appraising potential acquisitions to determine the value and appropriateness of
the material; developing aids such as: preliminary inventories, finding aids
and guides which explain history, scope, content, and arrangement of the
collections; providing reference and research services to patrons; presenting
workshops on preservation to staff and the public; providing tours of the Mesa
Room; interpreting and explaining library and City policies; and supervising
volunteers in archival functions. Employees must be able to work some evenings
and weekends. This class performs related duties as required. This class is
FLSA exempt-professional.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Requires any combination of training, education, or
experience equivalent to graduation from a library school accredited by the
American Library Association with a Master's Degree in Library Science with
archival specialization or a Master's Degree in History or a related discipline
with formal coursework in archival administration. Good (1 - 3 years)
professional experience in arrangement, description, and preservation of
archival collections is also required.
SELECTION PROCESS

will be placed on an eligible list. From this list, applicants may be selected
for an Oral Board interview. If you are invited to a testing process and might

Manager with the approval of the City Manager.
