Re: Springtime in the Rockies=snow

And to think that usually us folks here in the West scoff only at the
effete easterners for closing down their cities for a mere six inches
of snow. Steve and Carol, you've made us look bad!

JK, as my teenage daughter would say in her email--Just Kidding.
(the one you have to learn is POS-Parent Over Shoulder, which
means they're more circumspect in their instant messaging with
their friends).

It's the same story here in the Land O' Zion; yesterday I-70 through
the central part of the state was shut down by blizzards, so anyone
trying to get from California to Denver wouldn't have made it
anyway. We had spring the third week of March, summer the last
week of March, and now it's back to winter. But I remember a few
years ago sending this same daughter off to school through snow so
deep it took me all day to dig the driveway out, and the schools
weren't closed. That same storm the then-new president of the
University of Utah, who was from Michigan, refused to close the U,
and got positively scalded in the press for it. I sure wrote to the
school district!

As you can imagine with the Utah reputation for sweet teeth, Krispy
Kremes are a big hit here too. There isn't one in SLC yet that I
know but down in Happy (Utah) Valley, the same phenom: lines,
riots, swooning customers. Before the one down'ta Orem opened,
Utah residents were making bootleg runs down to Las Vegas and
bringing back trunk-fulls. I haven't tried one yet either.

Excuse the ramblings,
