Syracuse University Digital Collections Online



The Syracuse University Department of Special Collections is pleased
to announce that its digital collections have been greatly enhanced,
with funding provided through the New York State Library's Regional
Bibliographic Databases and Interlibrary Resources Sharing Program
funds.  The Library?s online special collections comprise:

The Oneida Community Collection: Full text, in HTML, from over 20
historic Oneida publications, by and about the Oneida Community,
including 140 selected historic photographs. Selected titles include:
"Bible Communism: a compilation from the annual reports and
other publications of the Oneida Association and its branches;
presenting, in connection with their history, a summary view of their
religious and social theories;"  " Confessions of John H. Noyes Part I:
confession of religious experience: including a history of modern
perfectionism;" "Essay on scientific propagation; with an appendix
containing a health report of the Oneida Community;" "First annual
report of the Oneida Association: exhibiting its history, principles,
and transactions to Jan. 1, 1849;" "Handbook of the Oneida
Community."  "History Of The Printing Business Of The O.C. -1875;"
" Male continence;" "Male continence: or, self-control in sexual
intercourse. A letter of inquiry answered;" " Salvation from sin: the
end of Christian faith;" "Second annual report of the Oneida
Association: exhibiting its progress to February 20, 1850;" "Third
annual report of the Oneida Association: exhibiting its progress to
February 20, 1851." titles include: "Bible Communism: a

Street and Smith Dime Novel Collection: Over 2000 scanned images of all dime novel covers, and a selection of serial covers, which were also microfilmed as part of an earlier NEH project.  Images are organized by series t
itle.  Dime novel titles include: Adventure Library; Alger Series; Bertha Clay Library; Burt L. Standish Library; Cobb Library; Detective Library; Eagle Series; Eden Series; Harkaway Library; Historical Series; Jack Harka
way Stories; Lake Shore; Series; Magnet Detective Library; Medal Library; Merriwell Series & Library; New Bertha Clay Library; New Eagle Series; New Fiction Library; New Magnet Library; New Medal Library; Princess Series;
 Romance Series & New Romance Library; Round The World Library; Select Library; Southworth & New Southworth Library; Sport Stories; Star Library Starry Flag Series; Western Story Library.  Selected Serials include: Bowery
 Boy Library; Picture Play; The Whisperer.

Erie Railroad Glass Plate Negative Collection:  Images from over
750 glass plate negatives depicting stations and other trackside
structures, primarily in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and
Ohio.  Main line scenes come from all of the preceding states, as
well as from Indiana and Illinois.  The image content of the glass
plates varies, including individual stations, mile posts, lengths of
track, new track construction, and social organizations (such as the
East Buffalo Car Shop Basketball Team and shop bands).  While, to
date, the station images have attracted the most researcher interest,
the images also provide a valuable source of information for
documenting the early 20th century landscape, product advertising,
railroad construction, and on-and-off-the-job Erie Railroad
Company employee activities.

Medieval Manuscripts:  A Department of Special Collections
digitization project with the following objectives: to gather full
descriptive information on the ten western medieval manuscripts of
the collection; photograph selected images from each manuscript,
and digitize these images for display on the web.
