If librarians are merely uttering pious platitudes
 about the Library Bill of Rights and the Freedom to
 Read Statement - what they mean and how important they
 are - while all the while practicing intolerance to
 points of view they find personally repugnant -
 including and often particularly the views of those
 who challenge items in their collections - they are
 exercising a devious kind of hypocrisy.

 They are not in their persons modeling the kind of
 democratic ideals they profess to espouse.
