Processing and Photo Archivist (Librarian II)
Job Summary: Responsible for the processing of and reference services
for photograph, archival, and library materials in the Archives.
Responsibilities:
? Arrange and describe archival, photographic, and library materials
including preparation of finding aids, catalog records, bibliographies,
indexes, lists, and maintain computer databases. Some heavy lifting
required.
? Employ preservation methods in processing, handling, and care of
archival, photographic, and library materials.
? Assist in the acquisition of archival, photographic, and library
materials including accessioning, packing, and labeling collections for
transfer to the Archives.
? Provide reference assistance for photographs and assist in general
reference services in the Archives.
? Assist in the supervision and training of library technicians and
student workers.
? Assist with user's education and outreach activities including
preparation of exhibits and providing orientation for students,
visitors, and other patrons.
? Assumes other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications: MLS degree from an ALA-accredited library school or
master's degree in history. Academic background in archival management
and African American studies desirable. Three consecutive years of
experience working in a library or archives. Effective analytical,
interpersonal, and writing skills. Experience with the Internet,
microcomputers, and word processing. Able to work independently and as
a member of a team. Available to work some evenings and weekend hours.
Nature of Employment: Regular full-time, excellent benefits.
Salary Range: $32,500 - $35,550
