Re: Compact Storage

I have worked in two places that had the Spacesaver Compact shelving. The library I worked at had manual compact shelving and electric shelving with battery back up. The manual ones are probably the cheapest and the most troublesome. We had many problems with them coming off the track and turning one row at a time gets old.

Here at the National Archives we have really nice electric compact shelving that has already been discussed.

As far as cons. The ability to get in only one row can cause for trouble especially if popular collections are in the same set of shelves.

Hi,

I would be interested in hearing from those who have compact storage. What
are the pros and cons? Who did you get them from, etc.

Thank you,
