Re: Rubber cement--worse and worse

>>He responded that corporate dictated these displays and he performed as
ordered. He would not change the display. In turn I gave him the number to
several local archives and professional organizations who would be happy to
confirm my statements, and wished him a pleasant day.<<

Unfortunately the manager does not have any say really in the displays. This
is dictated by the corporate HQ. In some cases the display has been paid for
by the publisher, similar to food producers who pay a stocking fee to a
grocery store for guaranteed shelf space.

A more effective solution would be to ask for the name and address of the
corporation's marketing VP or who ever is responsible for in-store displays,
then write a letter of complaint to that individual. At the same time write
a letter to the publisher/developer of the display pointing out the errors
of their ways.

finally does the bookstore have a community outreach director. I worked
part-time for a bookstore in Houston (did it for the discount). that
particular store put on regular programming whether it was poetry readings,
book signings or whatever. If the store offers this then offer to put on a
program about the preservation and conservation of family history.
