Re: MAPPING WOMEN'S ARCHIVES IN THE UNITED STATES

I am an archivist at the Women and Leadership Archives at the Ann Ida Gannon, BVM, Center for Women and Leadership
located at Loyola University Chicago. The Gannon Center has received initial funding to map Women's Archives.

The purpose of the project is two-fold. First, it is to identify the location of the records of women's organizations and papers of
or about women. Second is to provide a directory of women-centered archives. This directory will provide valuable resource
to women and organizations to use as a reference when donating their documents and for scholars writing on women's history.
The mapping directory will include pertinent information on each repository with significant holdings of papers and records
relating to women and women's organizations by major categories. The directory will include the name of the institution, contact
information, contact position, strength of collection, and materials solicited. Rare published works, such as reports and
newsletters, will also be included as archival records. Attached to this letter is a link to a survey about the project.

If your institution has a significant collection of women and women's organizations papers and records, please fill out the
questionnaire at http://www.luc.edu/orgs/gannon/archives/survey.html or request a copy of the questionnaire from
wlarchives@luc.edu

Thank you very much for your input on this project. The deadline for being included in this directory is September 30, 2001.
Please respond promptly. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
