Publication Rights Statements

Ok, time for me to ask a question.

The director has just asked me about wording for a publication rights
statement that is more restrictive than our usual -- highly unrestrictive
one below

"Copyright has not been assigned to the Southern California Library for
Social Studies and Research. Researchers may make single copies of any
portion of the collection, but publication from the collection will be
allowed only with the express written permission of the Library's director.
It is not necessary to obtain written permission to quote from a collection.
When the Southern California Library for Social Studies and Research gives
permission for publication, it is as the owner of the physical items and is
not intended to include or imply permission of the copyright holder, which
must also be obtained by the reader."

Also access statements for collections where the donor is retaining the
right to allow or deny access to all or part of a collection. Along the
lines of: Access to this collection is only available through written
permission of mrbigman at the following address. I know I saw something of
the sort on a collection at the Schlesinger Library.

Thank you very much for your assistance,
