Re: Alice in Wonderland

This is the same Adobe that recently prompted the arrest of a Russian
scientist speaking at a meeting on computer security, right?

Knowledge Indignation: Road Rage on the Information Superhighway

In December last year the American company, Adobe, published 'Alice in
Wonderland' as an electronic book. It couldn't control copyright so instead
it made a contract with the online user.

Here are some of the rules for reading 'Alice' on the web.

Copy: No text selections can be copied from this book to the clipboard.
Print: No printing is permitted on this book.
Lend: This book cannot be lent or given to someone else.
Give: This book cannot be given to someone else.
Read aloud: This book cannot be read aloud.

Stan Correy: It was the last permission on 'reading aloud' that caused the
most laughter. Adobe quickly pointed out that's not what they meant to say.
What they really meant, they said, was that software in the e-book that
enabled the text to be spoken could not be used. But as the March Hare said,
they should say what they mean.
