archival dividers

I am processing a large collection of letters (1870-1900) which were housed
in binders with tab dividers for each letter of the alphabet. I would like
to take the tab dividers out because they are moldy, dirty, and torn, and am
looking for a way to keep the alphabetical division between the letters. I
could put each division in a folder, but often there are only 1-2 letters
per alphabet letter and it would use so many folders if I did it that way.
Does anyone know of some type of archival tab dividers which could replace
the old dividers? Right now I am placing a piece of paper to separate the
letters but I was wondering what others were doing.

Thanks!
