Re: RAIN 9/14: Update- sad paper trail

This reminds me of a much more minor disaster from before I even thought of
being an archivist. I was working a temporary office job in Berkeley and a
building near by was a victim of an arson attack. The next day on the way to
work there were partially burned office records scattered through the
street. I picked a few up and saved them -- feeling like they were some
sort of testimony. A short while later I went back to finish my
undergraduate degree and on to Simmons College for their dual degree program
(History, MLIS (Archives)) and now I'm an archivist. Feeling much sorrow on
this day of mourning. Praying sincerely as a Quaker for love to triumph
over hate and for that of God (or whatever name you choose) in each person
to be respected in this country, this world and on this list-serv.
