Preserving Scrapbooks

These "self-stick" pages are actually, I believe,
ribbon ridges of rubber cement. I have found
it extremely difficult to remove such items as
they have adhered to these pages permanently.

At the same time, Items removed have a sticky
back that can't be corrected and hence then stick
to other items, meaning you have to interleave the
items.

My first question is: what is important here? The
item (artifact value) or the information? If it is the
information, then make a photocopy of the entire
scrapbook on acid-free paper. Then decide if it
is really worth the effort to reclaim materials that
are going to pose even further problems over time.
