The Teaching American History Grant Program is a $50 million discretionary
grant program strongly supported by Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV), Chairman of
the Senate Appropriations Committee. The NCC anticipates that $100 million
will be available for the program in FY- 2002. This year's application
package was published in the Federal Register on May 23, 2001. Applications
were due July 23, 2001. The applications for FY 2001 funding were evaluated
by expert peer review panels August 13-17, 2001.
