Re: Digitization Question

Casey-

We scanned our entire collection of stereographs. We choose to scan the
entire card (with an archival uncompressed TIFF 8 bit gray scale and three
jpegs of different resolutions-high, low, and thumbnail) on each. One
reason is that quality often varies between the two sides. Another reason
was a stereo card enthusiast requested both sides be scanned.

You can see ours at:

        www.ark-ives.com/photo

Click on "Search". When the OPAC comes up, enter the word "stereograph" to
access all in our collection. When you get the "hit list" click on one.
Scroll down the image until you see the thumbnail. Double click on the
thumbnail to see a larger low resolution image. When only side is visible
(as with "Moncrovie" mill) it means that that's what our original looks
like.

If you have more questions, please feel free to ask:-)

Subject: Digitization Question

I would like to inquire how others have scanned stereo cards. Have you
scanned the entire card, including both images, or only one image,
noting in the textual description that it is from a stereo card?

Please respond to the list rather than to me so others can share the
information. Thanks!
