Genealogy Lecture for teachers

 "Using Genealogy in the Classroom"
Lecture at the Massachusetts Archives

Secretary of the Commonwealth William Francis Galvin announced today the
November talk in the Massachusetts Archives and Commonwealth Museum's fall
lecture series for teachers will be "Using Genealogy in the Classroom," a
discussion facilitated by Susan Steele. The discussion will take place at
10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2001, at the Massachusetts Archives
building on Columbia Point in Dorchester (220 Morrissey Boulevard, Boston,
MA 02125).

Susan Steele is an elementary school teacher in Wayland, Massachusetts. She
has been doing genealogy for ten years and is co-editor of a genealogy
newsletter.

History is often more meaningful to students when they understand that they
and their families are a part of it. Genealogy provides a good way for
students to start getting involved and thinking historically. Susan Steele
will provide expert guidance in sharing ideas about how genealogists work
and how the process can be successfully integrated into the classroom.
The program is free and open to the public. Parking is free, and the
building is handicapped accessible. For additional information or a
brochure listing future lectures call 617-727-2816 or see our website at
