Oregon St. Archives Web Tour

Dear Archives and Archivists:

The Oregon State Archives announces the introduction of a Web tour of the Archives. The tour is designed to help researchers become more familiar with the building as well as the products and services available at the Archives and its Web site. The tour also shows how the staff and volunteers preserve historical Oregon state and local government records and make them available for use.

It is organized by different parts of the building (lobby, reference room...) just as a person would see it on a "real" tour. Viewers see photographs of the architecture and along the way learn about registration, rules, exhibits, reference archivists, finding aids, storage area climate controls, and other subjects.

It is hoped that more features and links to resources--maybe even digital video tutorials on research subjects--will be added as time and bandwidth allow. The Web address is:

Let me know if you have any questions or comments.
