Director, American Heritage Center

The University of Wyoming invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the American Heritage Center. The AHC is one of the most extensive research archives in the Rocky Mountain region, dedicated to preserving and interpreting significant historical records and collections. Its holdings include manuscripts, photographs, maps, audio-visual materials, rare books, university records, and other materials. The University seeks an individual having the vision, experience, and leadership needed to sustain the AHC’s stature as a university archives of national and international distinction. Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree or equivalent credentials in an allied field and knowledge of archives administration. Strong candidates will have a convincing record of leadership in archives or comparable academic settings, scholarly or professional distinction, and demonstrated ability to manage personnel and budgets.

The Director reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and supervises 11 archives faculty members and over 30 staff members. Strong liaisons with the University Libraries, the Art Museum and other museums, with academic departments, and with other major collections nationwide are crucial to the AHC’s success. The Director is also responsible for cultivating relationships with donors and other external constituents.
