New version of Yale EAD site launched

[With apologies for cross-posting . . .]

The EAD working group of the Yale University Library is pleased to announce
the new version of the Yale Finding Aids Database.
This consortial projects contains holdings from 4 Yale libraries:

Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library (entirety of processed
collections with FAs represented)
Yale Divinity Library (majority of processed collections with FAs represented)
Irving S. Gilmore Music Library (selection of processed collections with
FAs represented)
Manuscripts and Archives Department of Sterling Memorial Library (sampling
of processed collections with FAs represented)

The Yale Finding Aids Database, which has been online since May 1997
at http://webtext.library.yale.edu/, has a new look and improved functionality.
Search functions remain the same, while the redesign
of the new site offers improved explanatory sections.

The new site is built on XML, with deliverable files output in HTML
(hard-coded), so that any JAVA-enabled HTML web browser can be used
to view finding aids. More information on our processes can be found at:
http://jefferson.village.virginia.edu/ead/sitesann.html#Yale University

Comments welcome.

Caveat: As with many websites, results may vary depending on the version of
browser you are using. The Yale Finding Aids site has been built to accommodate
Netscape 4.7X and Internet Explorer 5.5
