Re: Photo MARC cataloging question (sizes in 300 field)



MARC21 isn't a descriptive content standard, so the examples you see on the
LC MARC21 pages won't necessarily adhere to the Anglo-American Cataloguing
Rules or any other descriptive content standard. And if the MARC21 examples
do follow AACR2, it will be the Library of Congress' interpretation of those
rules.

I only have the 1988 revision of AACR2. Rule 8.5D2 (Graphic Materials) says
to give the width of filmstrips and filmslips in millimetres (e.g., 35 mm).
Local interpretations of AACR2 could allow for the addition of Imperial
measurements after the prescribed form of measurement.
