Re: Class Schedules

I, too, have been saving course schedules. However, since our university
archives is still being pulled together, our registrar has always handled
these questions and will continue to do so for the time being. So I'm
curious - does this mean that your university registrar's records have been
transferred to the archives? That's something we're working toward, but it
won't happen until our new library and archives is built.

Yes! And they're frequently used by former students who need to confirm the
content of classes they took. Often the course descriptions in the catalog
do not reflect what classes are actually taught, or what subject matter they
actually cover. Moreover, the class schedules contain other vital
information such as the academic calendar for a given year.

I regard class schedules as an essential record series for an academic
archives.

A question for college and university archives -- do you collect class
schedules? Not the academic bulletin which describes classes, but the term-
by-term schedule which generally lists section number, time, location and
professor.
