Re: Class Schedules



When I was at the University of Rhode Island, we also retained class
schedules for each semester for basically the same reasons that Jan outlined
below. What I found astonishing was the number of times we were asked to
check them to confirm that a particular class was offered in a particular
semester.

At Davidson College we do collect the class schedules for each semester. We
have had to use them to verify that a class was taught in a particular year.
(Obviously, classes listed can end up being cancelled but overall we
consider them an accurate record of courses offered.)
The American Association of Collegiate Registrar and Admissions Officers
recommends permanent retention for class schedules in their publication
"Retention of Records: A Guide for Retention and Disposal of Student
Records, 1998 Update.
