Job Posting: Virtual Archives Cataloguer
Project Assistant (50%) (Virtual Archives Cataloguer) - Req. 12797 - School
of Architecture (JC135007/Grade G) - Searching for an individual to perform
metadata collection and entry for architectural archives and museum objects
as part of Greene and Greene Virtual Archives Project, a collaborative
project funded by the Getty Grant Program. The project assistant will
enter metadata for about 900 item-level descriptions, as well as add to and
enhance finding aid for 5000 items in Greene and Greene Archives. Duties
also include building and managing the project Web site. The selected
candidate will work under the supervision of the Gamble House Director
and the Greene and Greene Archivist at the Huntington Library and under
the direction of the Virtual Archives Project Manager. The selected
candidate will cooperate on the project with colleagues working with the
other two major Greene and Greene collections at UC Berkeley's
Environmental Documents Archives and Columbia University's Avery Library.
Min. Req. - Familiarity with word processing and database software
required. Bachelor's degree and some graduate work preferred. Work
experience in archival or architectural collections preferred. FileMaker
Pro / Access experience preferred. Familiarity with EAD (Encoded Archival
Descriptions) and OAC (Online Archives of California) is desirable. This
is an eighteen-month grant-funded position. Located at the Huntington
Library.
