Job Posting: 2 year half-time metadata cataloging specialist

<Please excuse duplication: cross-posted to multiple listservs>

How would you like to work hands-on with one of the most comprehensive
collections
of posters from World Wars I and II?

The University of Minnesota Libraries and the Minneapolis Public Library
recently
were awarded a 2-year National Leadership grant from the Institute of
Museum and Library
Services, to digitize and make Internet-accessible 6,000 posters from World
War I and II.
The rich holdings of both libraries include posters produced by
governmental, charitable,
and corporate organizations. As part of this grant-funded project, the
University of
Minnesota invites applications for a two-year half-time Metadata Cataloging
Specialist.
This position will be a key to the success of the project. The job will
involve hands-on
work with this exciting and interesting collection of visual materials.
Applicants should
possess solid experience in non-bibliographic cataloging; should have some
knowledge of one
or more metadata schema commonly employed in libraries; and must be able to
maintain attention
to details throughout the course of an ambitious digitization and
cataloging project. More
specific information on job qualifications and application procedures may
be found online
at:

http://www1.umn.edu/ohr/jobs/R113339.html

Applications will be received until the position is filled. This is a
unique opportunity
to be involved in an innovative, fun and collegial digital library
environment. The Metadata
Cataloging Specialist will be a member of the University of Minnesota
Libraries' Digital
Collections Unit.

Please do not respond directly to me. Instead, follow applications
instructions in the
posting referenced above.

Sincerely,
Chuck Thomas
