SALARY: $24,662.00 - $31,644.00 per annum
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Unlimited
HOURS: As scheduled within weekday hours. 8:45 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. and on Saturdays as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of experience at the DS-5 level or equivalent experience, or a bachelor's degree. Experience must demonstrate skill in the use of office automation and customer service. All applicants must present a combination of experience, education, skills, self-development, and expertise to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
FUNCTIONS: Under the general supervision of the Division Chief, the incumbent is responsible for providing assistance with the development and maintenance of the newspaper clipping file, Star photo and clipping files, news articles, periodicals and vertical files. The incumbent serves on the file desk retrieving material from the closed stack area for the public; Serves as backup on the phone line during busy periods to handle routine requests for directional questions and hours; Assists patrons with photocopiers and MF Readers; Instructs volunteers on clipping or filing; Searches through new magazine files, newspapers, telephone directories, and city directories for answers to patron written requests (genealogical or house history) and provides information to the librarian in charge of correspondence; Performs clerical /word processing tasks, prepares and maintains mailing lists using mail merge, database lists, pathfinders, and multimedia lists.
