Re: question about roman numerals
In some forms of Roman numbers, especially after XVI century, D is
represented by an I followed by a backwards "c", like a I followed by a
parenthesis, and M is represented by a "c" followed by an I and a backwards
"c", as an I between parentheses.
So:
( I ) = M
I ) = D
Finally:
cIc Icc = MDC = 1600
And the date could be in fact 1694, but I don't understand what is the
meaning of the first C. Maybe "centuria", but is odd. Can you tell me more
about the book?
