Pots and kettles (was RE: Response to Tom Eisinger re: Jobs Requi ring CA)

<<[lucinda writes] I believe that accredited archival graduate degree
programs have done more than anything else to professionalize our field aver
the past twenty years and to provide a common base of knowledge, just as the
ALA acredited MLS has helped to professionalize librarians.>>

Despite Lucinda's assertations, a full 14% [!] of repsondents to the
LISNews.com poll on "The MLS is . . ." felt that the correct response is "a
way to oppress so-called non-professionals." To see the poll in all its
glory go to <http://lisnews.com/>.

I guess all this tells us is that one person's invaluable credential,
certificate, or degree may be another person's waste of time (see Glenn's
poll comments; [ed.] at least the CA only cost a few hundred dollars instead
of the tens of thousands you'd spend for an MLS or an MAS).
