looking for online help for preservation of family ephemera

I am writing a very short piece for our City Hall newsletter. My audience
will be city employees, not just managers and "records keepers."

I want to preach preservation, but in a way that will appeal to my audience.
I'm looking for some links that would provide some basic tips on preserving
"family" treasures: Bibles, diaries, photographs, scrapbooks, etc. (Kind of
a "back door" education.) The links would be mentioned in the article.

I found this site from Central Michigan which looks like a good primer for
my audience: http://www.lib.cmich.edu/clarke/pres.htm#PI

Would anyone know of additional, noncommercial links I could mention in my
piece?

Thank you!
