SMACKDOWN: (Was CA and Jobs- and the Enron/Anderson megafiasco)

Hey all!

I propose at the next SAA we take a morning to put an end to the panels! Let education and knowledge take a back seat for a few hours. Do we really spend all of that money to be educated and network? Maybe, but now we have a new incentive: the SAA SMACKDOWN.

Pour some sand in the center of the main ballroom and the CA's and non-CA's can have at it. Let the fur fly and release our pent-up aggressions! I, for one, would attend. And depending on what side I was on that day I'd even jump into the fray and pull some hairs!

Let's channel this into an entertaining and cathartic experience for all concerned. After it's over we can all hold hands, sing a rousing chorus of "It's a Small World," and leave with warmed hearts knowing that whether CA or Non-CA, in the end we all process the same papers, eat the same groceries, and gripe over being under appreciated.

Have a nice day out there!

I know that I'm going to hate myself for this tomorrow and others
(especially Lesley will hate me sooner)
But I just have to make one more observation that I do home that Lucinda
will answer.

Lucinda, you said that 13 years was long enough for the ACA to convince
archivists that they should become certified.

And yet you work for the United Federation of Teachers. How long did it
take the educational community to convince teachers and school trustees that
certification was necessary? Wasn't it something like 75 years?
