Re: Microfilm Reader/Printer

If the readers are going to be used by the public with minimal or no
training on usage, I would recommend purchasing a system that is
exceptionally user-friendly and one which will afford the best level of
protection for your film and place few demands on your staff for
"training"-the-public.

I personally like the hybrid systems which "feed" the film into your PC
monitor for viewing, allows you to save an image to disk or hard-drive, and
then prints out using your PC's laser printer. Last time I checked the
market, though (about a year ago), there were a number of systems available
for 16mm film but I only found one for 35mm. As I recall, if you are
already set up with PC work stations, this PC/microfilm reader system is no
more expensive as an add-on than a stand-alone microfilm-reader printer
would be.

Our institution is in the process of renovating our
research facility. This means we get to buy new
microfilm readers! Yahoo! Just checking to see if
anyone has recommendations - or better yet - words of
warning on current equipment. Thanks for any suggestions.
