Disney litigation

I realize that the RAIN fall of late has been a bit heavy due to the Andersen-Enron escapades, but I'm surprised that no one picked upon the following story form last week that concerned the Disney-Pooh litigation. In the previous week's RAIN postings there were several stories that trumpeted the fact that Disney was found guilty of evidence destruction ie shredding records.

The following quote comes from this story;
National Post 01/21/02
Disney loses 1st round in Pooh battle
http://www.nationalpost.com/home/story.html?f=/stories/20020121/1191459.html

<quote>
"Lawyer Daniel Petrocelli also maintains the destroyed documents about the
Jefferds' negotiations had little to do with the Pooh case and
characterizes the incident as a routine housecleaning."

"These were old meaningless papers destroyed by people in Disney's records
management department who had no knowledge of any lawsuit," he said. "There
is no proof that the documents destroyed were evidence."
<quote>

EXCUSE ME! The RM department was not notified of the litigation? Is this normal procedures for multi-billion dollar corporation? Does the corporate counsel have such little regard for the RM department that they don't even notify the department of litigation whether ongoing or pending?

Any comments from the members of the GLA chapter of ARMA International have to say about this? or Orange County?

Another key opportunity.
