Re: Tracking publishers
I believe the company you are seeking is now Follett, Corp., based in River
Grove, IL. They are a pretty big education publisher and have been in
business, under various names, for many years now. Their website is
[www.follett.com].
If the picture was published in one of their books, Follett likely does NOT
own copyright, but purchased a repro. right from some collection/individual.
Is there a Photo credit?
Intellectual Property is generally treated like a physical asset when a
company goes out of business - it can be sold, transferred, or held by the
final owner. For example, say I owned my own publishing firm, published a
few books, and then went out of business. Unless I sold off all my assets to
another company, I would still own the assets, both physical (computers,
press, etc.) and intellectual (copyrights assigned to me).
