New York Archives



The Archives Partnership Trust is pleased to announce the Winter 2002 issue of "New York Archives" is available.

Highlights of the Winter issue include:

"Documenting the Day the World Stood Still"  Detailing the ongoing efforts by archivists throughout New York City and the State to document the events of September 11.  

"Re-examining Slavery in New York" explores the early history of slavery in New York, from Dutch colonial times through the early days of American independence.

"Oscar Garcia Rivera" recounts the career of the man who was the first Puerto Rican elected to public office in New York.

"Saving an American Treasure" reports on the successful preservation (in Philadelphia) of the State Archives' fragile Dutch colonial records and their subsequent return to the State Archives.  

This publication is a benefit of membership in the Archives Partnership Trust.  Visit our web site at www.nysarchives.org to join the Trust.  

Membership levels include Friend/Family ($35) to Senior/Citizen ($25), and Archivist ($500) - a title of honor, not necessarily indicative of salary.
