THE CITY OF HENDERSON ANNOUNCES EXAMINATION TO CREATE AN ELIGIBILITY LIST FOR THE CLASSIFICATION OF "ARCHIVES AND RECORDS ADMINISTRATOR" TO FILL ONE (1) VACANCY IN THE CITY CLERK'S OFFICE. THE ELIGIBILITY LIST FOR "ARCHIVES AND RECORDS ADMINISTRATOR" WILL BE UTILIZED TO FILL VACANCIES IN THIS CLASSIFICATION FOR ONE (1) YEAR.


OPENING DATE:   Thursday, February 14, 2002
CLOSING DATE:   Thursday, March 14, 2002, at 5:00 p.m.

SALARY: $58,862.93 - 88,308.13/year

THE JOB: Under general direction, plans, directs, and coordinates the City Archives and Records Division of the City Clerk's Office; and performs related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Archives or Records Management, Public or Business Administration, or closely related field AND four (4) years of professional archives and records management experience, two (2) of which must have been at a supervisory level OR an equivalent combination of closely related education, training, and work experience.  The best candidate will have direct work experience in Electronic Records Management Systems (ERMS) and practical application of public recordkeeping processes.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Ø Master's Degree from an accredited college or university and previous experience supervising staff responsible for storing, retaining, retrieving, and securing records and information for a public agency; and
Ø Professional Certification in Records Management.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Nevada Driver's License at the time of appointment and maintain a satisfactory driving record.  All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by State and Federal Laws or as required herein, must be obtained and maintained at the incumbents' expense.

SELECTION PROCESS:  The selection process will consist of an application screening for minimum qualifications with the most qualified candidates being invited to participate in an oral review board process at their own expense.  The oral review board will test for knowledge of Archives and Records Management as applied to: background, management principles, records creation, records systems, storage and retrieval; records appraisal, retention, protection and disposition; equipment and technology; interpersonal relations; and verbal communications.  The oral board may include a written component.  It is the responsibility of candidates with a disability requiring accommodation in the testing process to contact the Human Resources Department to request such accommodation prior to the closing date of this recruitment.  Appointment is subject to successful completion of background investigation, and City-paid, pre-employment, post-offer physical examination, including drug test.

NOTE:  The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
