NYT on public records controversies



The Sunday New York Times (2/24/02) has an interesting column by Celestine Bohlen,  "Whose History Is It, Anyway? The Public's or the Officials'?"  It looks at recent erosion of the concept of public access to records and covers a number of recent controversies, such as the Bush executive order on the Presidential Records Act, the disposition of the Guiliani records, etc.  The column includes a number of quotes from archivists and historians and is available at
