Possibly the best way to regard it is to take the whole article as a
joke.  If anyone wants to reply to the author, perhaps that should be the
attitude.  That was very funny, and too bad you're not at USC because there
you could try for the Art Buchwald scholarship for satirical writing &
otherwise antisocial leanings (not to besmirch Buchwald--but his award
actually does contain satirical language about people like himself!).

I think one problem is that library schools do not necessarily represent
what they teach very well in catalogs--and it can be hard to
describe:  analytical skills?  honing search skills for
efficiency?  reference skills to the point of mind-reading?

After all, how would you describe a physics program:  secrets of the
universe, including how one object can be in two places at once?

It's easy to make any field of study sound ridiculous and/or
useless--especially if it's not your own.

Yes, but why bother? He's a complete idiot and made that very clear in
