Seattle Area Archivists Meeting-Wednesday, March 20

SEATTLE AREA ARCHIVISTS MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT (NON-MEMBERS WELCOME!)

Wednesday, March 20, 2002
2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Puget Sound Regional Archives
1st Fl, Building N
SW Corner, Bellevue Community College
3000 Landerholm Circle SE
Bellevue, WA 98007

Please join us in welcoming our March speaker, JonLee Joseph,
who will discuss her project, an "Oral History
Inventory of King County," funded through the King
County Landmarks and Heritage Commission. The project
created an oral history inventory of audio tapes,
video tapes, and transcripts currently held in
repositories in King County. The inventory includes information
about the interview subjects, topics covered,
condition of the tapes, format of transcription, and
indexing. The completed inventory will be published
and posted on the server of the Museum of History and
Industry this spring.

JonLee, a native of West Seattle, is an oral historian who
is presently interviewing 19 Duwamish elders. A
storyteller for 30 years, JonLee is also a story
listener with enough life experience to hear the
stories of elders. She recently completed an oral
history project for the Southwest Seattle Historical
Society at the Log House Museum. Thirty-one elders
were interviewed for their stories of diversity and
cultural change. Some of the elders and their stories
were featured in the video, "West Seattle Stories."
