presents a one-day workshop
AN OVERVIEW OF XML FOR RECORDS MANAGERS
XML is quickly becoming an essential component in ecommerce
operations as well as in the preservation of digital documents. This
course
will introduce records managers to the basic building blocks of XML.
Topics
include: design principles for content and layout of electronic
documents;
XML elements, attributes, and entities; and software for creating
document
type definitions and for authoring XML documents. It will also discuss
the
management of XML projects and the role of the records manager. The
workshop combines lecture, demonstration and hands-on formats. At the
end of the course, participants will have a basic understanding of XML
and
its importance to records managers.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The course is suitable for records managers at all levels. It would be
most
useful for individuals with a basic understanding of electronic
