Re: Friday Funnies: Regional Stereotypes and the South

While not widespread there are a couple of other altered forms of
pronunciation that let you know you're in the South.

"Y'anto" (yaun too) - used as a question. "I'm goin' to the mall. Y'anto?"

"aight" (EYE eet)- short for "alright", usually pronounced with a drawl, an
answer in the affirmative. "We got some squirrel gumbo. Wanna come eat?"
"Aight."
