"Reasonable" E-Mail Contact?

Friends,

My, my, my, aren't we a defensive bunch. All I did (I thought)was
iterate a plea not to cut researchers off at the knees because they
don't have e-mail, and the next thing I know I'm being castigated as a
technophobe incompetent to do my job and uninterested in the
preservation of electronic records. (Where this last came from I have
absolutely no idea). In case my reference to my repository's inability
to scan materials and/or mount them on the web is responsible for this
impression, let me say that a lack of resources, not any recalcitrance
on my part, is the culprit here.

I believe the violent reaction to my posting rather proves my point
about the dangers to researcher access looming on the archival horizon.
