Re: Research Collections and ILLs

I agree with the question of wondering why you would keep the photocopies,
assuming
they do not have notes added by the professor?
I would agree with:
 - not keeping the photocopies themselves. They can quickly take up a lot
of costly space
- making a note in the collection description that said these materials
were received but were not kept
 - if you feel you need to keep some record of the articles, you could keep
the title/first page, which would hopefully include the journal information
plus article title--you would need to add the inclusive page numbers for
the article. Include a statement in the description that the articles were
discarded but title pages kept to make bibliographic
information available to researchers
 - if all the articles were used for publications by the professor,
wouldn't
they appear in the bibliographies of those publications?
 - does your collection development policy include a statement regarding
photocopied materials? If not, this sounds like an ideal time to add one.

I hope all goes well -
Carol
